Upon admission, you will remain in the facility during the initial seven day introductory period. With no visits or phone calls for the introductory period, your adjustment to the program is easier. Also within the first 21 days you will need to have a physical exam.

Your day begins with breakfast. Programs run from 8:00AM to 4:30 PM. During the school year you will participate in classes. The staff teacher will contact your school to assess what credits you will be working on while in treatment. Pro social activities are scheduled in the evenings.

After the introductory period, visiting hours are on Wednesday 8-8:30 PM after the parent workshop and on Saturday from 1:00- 2:00PM Also after 14 days you can begin receiving Therapeutic Leaves of Absence (TLOA) on the weekends to practice skills learned in treatment.

Once admitted to treatment your primary clinician completes an assessment review to evaluate any changes that have taken place in the interim between assessment and admission.  This information in conjunction with staff observation is taken to the first clinical staffing where a team decision is made as to which therapy model to use based on issues, skills, strengths and limitations. Clinical Staffing is a comprehensive review of your involvement in treatment and is conducted once every two weeks.

Sojourner uses The Seven Challenges, written by Dr. Robert Schwebel, in our Adolescent Programs. This is highly individualized approach allowing you and your family to work at your own pace. In addition other therapy modules include Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral and Skill Building.

Along with individual counseling you will attend group therapy, life skills groups, chemical dependency education classes, Parent Workshops, and Family sessions. Every two weeks Treatment Plans are developed between you and your clinician to fit your specific needs.

Length of stay is contingent upon your progress in treatment and highly individualized based on your specific needs.  While our emphasis is chemical dependency, other areas of concern for you and your family are addressed as well.  To maintain a holistic approach, significant focus and effort is put forth to identify special needs and refer you to the appropriate sources. We have developed strong collaborative relationships with many community resources.

All treatment services are provided by licensed professionals, in compliance with ODADAS and Sojourner Recovery Services Standards of Care.
